I have finished with my first nuno-felted and naturally dyed dress. This summer dress is hand felted and it reminds me of vintage style, it is a delicate and elegant piece of clothing.
Firstly, I felted the white dress using different natural fibers, such as silk, chiffon, lace fabric and merino wool. You can see a darker line on the dress – that is because this silk fabric had been previously dyed with oak bark. When I was ready with adding materials, I rolled the dress up and twirled it to make the colour stay on less evenly. I didn’t want it to cover the fabric in a too balanced way. When that was done, I placed the dress into the colouring pot with onion peels. For ebonizing, I used alum stone. I added some beads to give it a more elegant look, and ready it was.
